Why wearing a wood watch too tightly is bad for your wrist

Just like shoes, the fit of the watch on your wrist is very important. As you wear your wristwatch throughout the day, you should be very comfortable and be able to move your arms around without feeling pain or any other discomfort.

You might be curious to find out if there is a right way to wear your wooden wristwatch. In general, there is really no right or wrong way to wear your favorite watch regardless of materials. It is important to note however that wearing a watch too tightly is bad and can be harmful to your wrist.

Wearing a watch too tightly

Some prefer to wear their wooden watch with about an inch space on the wrist to move the arms comfortably. Some prefer it to have a tight fit. Too much tightness, even if it feels comfortable, can apply pressure to the nerves surrounding the wrist. This can cause wrist pain over a long period of time. It can also lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition that causes numbness or tingling sensation in the hands.

Wearing a watch too tightly is also bad if you have or suffer from a condition that affects your wrists or arms in general, just like severe joint pains. Remember that this is not limited to just wearing a wood watch or wood accessories on the wrist. Watches made from steel, leather, canvass, and even smartwatches can have a negative effect if worn too tightly as well.

Wooden watches

Wooden timepieces are made from wood which is a renewable resource. Most wood watches are crafted by hand without the use of harmful chemicals. But because it is made in the most natural way, changes in temperature and humidity can affect its overall fit. Too much humidity can make the wood swell, while too little can make it shrink. Be mindful of the storage condition of your wooden watch so that it won’t be able to affect its fit on your wrist.
